Notes : Acacia sieberana is a great success in the garden, particularly when planted in groups. Young trees are fast growing and the flat top develops when they are about 4 years old. The feathery foliage is light green. The attractive corcky bark peels off in stips. The paired thorns are white and long. The seed pods are sometimes covered with hair and are scented. Casts a dappled shade which allows lawn to grow beneath the canopy. It tolerates considerable frost, although young plants must be protected. It is resistant to drought, and thrives in shale in minimal soil. Propagate from seed that has been soaked in boiling water overnight.
