Notes : Genus of at least 1100 species. The most striking feature of this fast-growing tree is its slightly flaky-smooth, yellow-green trunk and branches. It has a slender to spreading, sparse, roundish crown of feathery foliage. The thorns are long, straight and paired. The flowers appear as sweetly scented golden-yellow balls. The pod is small, straight, thin and light brown. Requires regular watering all year. As the shade is sparse many plants will grow underneath it. Protect young plants from frost. Favoured nesting tree. Propagate from seed soaked in boiling water over night.
