The bold foliage contrasts well with the finer foliage of ferns. Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Some species are suitable as house plants. Propagate by dividing rhizomes or separating offsets in Spring or Summer. Root stem cuttings in early Spring. Contact with sap may irritate the skin. All parts may cause mild stomach upset if eaten.
